The advantages of using 'Twin' agricultural pneumatics over the conventional ones

Abstract

Modern agricultural production is characterised with increasing use of mobile appliances of agricultural mechanisation with the tendency of increasing their weight in order io increase specific pressure on soil. With the use of existing conventional pneumatics, soil is often strongly compacted, resulting in its damages and onset of "ploughs ole" causing much lower crop yields.

Therefore, one of the ways to reduce specific pressure on soil when using existing mechanisation means is considered to be the use of "Twin" pneumatics. These are low-profile wide pneumatics with lower inflation pressure than that with conventional ones. These pneumatics were previously thought to be non-applicable without reconstruction of the existing tractors. However, the Sweden factory "Trelleborg" produces "Twin" pneumatics which can be mounted on the existing tractors with the only change being shoe.

This paper is aimed at pointing out the advantages of the "Twin" compared to the conventional pneumatics.

For comparison, technical properties of the conventional “Trayal" and those of the "Twin" pneumatics, which can be mounted on all the mechanisation appliances used in agriculture, have been put forth, as well. In this way, the country's producers are advised to adjust and direct their production programme toward "Twin" pneumatics production, and the users are encouraged to soon apply them with their own mechanisation means
