Throughout a 3-year study, the average content of Mn, Cu, Zn and Fe was found out in the leaves of various hazelnut cultivars during the season May - September. The amount of Mn varied most , and that of Zn least. The highest average content of the microelements was established in the leaf of the cv. Tonda Gentille Romana. Thrrough the analysis of variance, highly significant differences were established in the content of Mn between the cultivars and years, and remarkable ones in the content of Fe.
A high interaction effect between cultivars and years existed in Mn and Fe content. The differences between Cu and Zn levels were random all through the period studied.
