The paper presents the effect of irrigation water of stated quality (based on physico-chemical analysis, phosphatase activity, plankton and ichthyofauna composition) on the number and activity of the microorganisms in alluvium and smonitza under wheat, barley and red clover. The obtained results (depressive impact on the highest number of soil microorganisms and their enzymatic activity) indirectly suggest that the Regulation on watercourse categorization (Official Herald FR Serbia, 5/86) be amended in the part relating to the quality of waters that can be used for plant irrigation.
