Application of ridge regression for testing correlation between individual characters in animal husbandry - poultry production

Abstract

Ridge regression was used to overcome multicolinearity occurring with regression analysis, i.e. to test the correlation between the mass of turkey breeder eggs prior to incubation, 1-day old turkey chicks and of those two weeks old. The data of regression analysis were obtained in the experiment, for which 100 breeder eggs, i.e. 74 hatched turkey chicks of Nicholas strain aged one day, were used.

Colinearity occurred with the application of the original method of regression analysis. The processing of the data was recorded. All the corrections were made through ridge regression equation, which resulted in a modified, precise formula of the linear regression equation.
