Romania ranks fifth in Europe, after France, Great Britain, Spain and Germany, in terms of the total natural grassland area. The total area in Romania is 4.9 million ha, of which 3.4 million ha grassland and 1.5 million ha hayfield, which is an important source of livestock fodder. This paper shows the influence of sustainable management, applied on the Festuca valesiaca L. grasslands found at 107 m a.s.l., in the forest-steppe zone of Ezareni, Iasi County. In this experience, we have studied the effect of organic fertilizers, applied at rates of 10-30 t ha-1, with N50-100 P36-72, on fodder content, yield, flower and chemical composition.
